Warner Bros. has picked up the movie rights to The Tourist, an upcoming book by two-time Edgar Award nominee Olen Steinhauer, for George Clooney and Grant Heslov to produce via their Smoke House production company, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Picked up in early manuscript form, the story is described as being a contemporary international thriller in the vein of John le Carre and Graham Greene and follows a spy who must risk everything to reveal a conspiracy after he's suspected of a murder he didn't commit.

Steinhauer is best known for writing a five-part book series chronicling Cold War Eastern Europe.

Deception was released April 25th, 2008 and stars Ewan McGregor, Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Bruce Altman, Andrew Ginsburg, Stephanie Roth Haberle, Christine Kan, Dante Spinotti. The film is directed by Marcel Langenegger.
