Wall-EWith no major theatrical release for the week, some of the bigger DVD hits of last year had a chance to shine once more in home video. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wall-E led the charge of last year's hot DVD's by taking the top spot on the national DVD sales charts, for the week ending March 1.

The top 10 on the sales charts were filled with catalog titles like The Dark Knight in second place, Mamma Mia! in third place, Horton Hears a Who in fifth place, Kung Fu Panda in seventh and even Sex and the City: The Movie finishing in eighth place, some 23 weeks after its initial release. The return of these older titles to the charts was not only attributed to the lack of competition, but also to blow-out $10 DVD sales from Target and going-out-of-business deals on DVD's at Circuit City.

The only new release on any of the charts was the new horror film The Haunting of Molly Hartley, which took fourth place in the rental charts. The top three rentals from last week remained the same, with Body of Lies in first, Changeling in second and Nights in Rodanthe in third place.

The Blu-ray charts saw some old titles return to prominence as well, with Iron Man taking second place on the Blu-ray sales charts behind last week's winner, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. The Dark Knight also finished in fourth place on the BD sales charts with Wall-E right behind in fifth place.
