20th Century Fox Home Entertainment said the Walk the Line DVD, released Tuesday, sold more than 3 million copies in its first day in stores, or 25% above Fox's forecast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox senior vp marketing communications Steve Feldstein said the DVD was strategically positioned to hit stores five days before the Academy Awards telecast. "We're thrilled with this sales velocity and expect all of the activity around the Oscars to further boost sales and awareness this week and well into next," Feldstein said.

Walk the Line was released November 18th, 2005 and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Ginnifer Goodwin, Robert Patrick, Dallas Roberts, Dan John Miller, Larry Bagby, Shelby Lynne. The film is directed by James Mangold.
