On Monday, we reported that Bloody-Disgusting has learned that Ving Rhames has been cast in the Day of the Dead remake. Their sources tell them Rhames character will be the same that appeared in Universal's Dawn of the Dead remake from last year.

Today, BlackFilm has confirmed through Millennium Films that Ving Rhames, Mena Suvari, Michael Welch, Annalynne McCord, Stark Sands and Nick Cannon have been cast in the film.

Steve Miner (Halloween H20, Friday the 13th, Part 2 & 3D) will direct the film. Jeffrey Reddick has written the screenplay.

George Romero's original 1985 version of Day of the Dead was the third zombie film in the series which started with 1968's Night of the Living Dead followed by 1978's Dawn of the Dead.
