Vince Lombardi Biopic Is Ready for Theaters
This is the first time the NFL has ever gotten directly involved in a major motion picture. They will be producing the film with Andrew Hauptman's Andell Entertainment and Chris Olsen. It is not known at this time if the NFL will actually finance the picture, but it does mean that filmmakers will have access to Lambeau Field, and the NFL will help greatly in the promotion of the finished product.
The film, which has been in the works for a year and a half, will center on the coach's 1967 "Ice Bowl" championship game between Green Bay and the Dallas Cowboys. Lombardi left the Packer's after he won the game. He died at age 57 in 1970.
David Murray's script is based partly on Instant Replay, the bestselling memoir by team member Jerry Kramer and Dick Schaap. Both Kramer and Vince Lombardi Jr. have given their blessing to the project and will act as consultants.
