Vin Diesel Is Still Interested in Riddick Sequels

Vin Diesel recently updated his Facebook profile with some new thoughts on future installments of the proposed The Chronicles of Riddick franchise. Though the last film arrived in 2004 with little fanfare and not much cult enthusiasm, that hasn't stopped the action maven from contemplating future adventures for his sci-fi hero. Here's what Vin had to say:
The Riddick discussion is about rating now. Though Hollywood likes their PG Ratings, the next chapter in the COR series was always envisioned as an R rating, like Pitch Black. One Studio exec suggested doing both "The Underverse" and "The Furyan", (working titles) at the same time, allowing us an R rating for the first and a PG rating for the second. The good news- David Twohy's script comes in next month.

No sequel has been greenlit just yet. We will keep you informed as more information comes in.

The Chronicles of Riddick was released June 11th, 2004 and stars Vin Diesel, Colm Feore, Thandie Newton, Judi Dench, Karl Urban, Alexa Davalos, Linus Roache, Yorick van Wageningen. The film is directed by David Twohy.

Pitch Black was released February 18th, 2000 and stars Vin Diesel, Radha Mitchell, Cole Hauser, Keith David, Lewis Fitz-Gerald, Claudia Black, Rhiana Griffith, John Moore. The film is directed by David Twohy.

Hey The Fallen, thanks for pointing out that Karl Urban was in The Chronicles of Riddick! Yeah, he was Thandie Newton's man. When I saw Star Trek (the new movie) I was looking at Dr. "Bones" McKoy and I kept thinking, "where the hell have I seen this guy before". Great performance of Bones. Exactly like Deforest Kelly's. I would love to see another Riddick movie. Now that he's the leader of those people, I wonder what will happen next. Will Riddick stay or will he hand it over to Karl Urban? He's a loner, so I say he tells them to buck up and think for themselves. And Zanyzap, what do you have against Vin Diezel? Fast and Furious did good business. He's very bankable, and badass.

  8. the Narrator

Chronicles of the Riddick was bad ass. Especially with Karl Urban's character. And the jail scene. And the wolves. And the... Oh forget it, it was all awesome. Hope this ones up to par.

The games are brilliant, Pitch black was cool and scary, Chronicles was not bad either, maybe i will give him a second chance.

I like Vin as an actor and I've like both of these movies. I would really like to see a third one.

The first two films were good to watch, the cartoon doesn't count as a film. Just finish the trilogy.
I have enjoyed his other work as well, it's just he needs to expand his mind a little more for other roles.

I like Vin Diesel, really... In fact, I loved "The Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black," "The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury," AND "The Chronicles of Riddick" movies. I look forward to seeing another one put into play... Hopefully they go for the "R" rating, however.

  16. ZanyZap

He seems to be recycling his mediocre-material with a bunch of sequels (Riddick, Fast and the Furious), and then he fills the gaps with even stupider, pointless movies.

    Seriously, Vin...

I assume by "PG rating" they mean "PG13."

Otherwise, Vin do what you want; I could care less, because I probably won't be seeing it. Never understood the point of the first couple (or however many they've made).

Vin Diesel should be interested in one thing and one thing only, retirement.
