Vin Diesel says production might start this summer
"Grrrrr...[David Twohy] the writer/director just landed in New York with the good news. We can start filming this summer. Riddick comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Vin Diesel, Joel William Gonzales, Karl Urban, Katee Sackhoff, Jordi Mollà, Matthew Nable, Bokeem Woodbine, Dave Bautista. The film is directed by David Twohy.

To at times PG-13, is a bad excuse. There's plenty of Rrated films that were hits at the box office@disciple419, also I thought Live Free or Die Hard was very good, you should watch the unrated version, that's what I saw.

Yes. Please take this back to the roots! Pitch Black is one of the greatest, most undermined scif-fi flicks out there (and honestly completely different tone, mythology and EVERYTHING when compared to Chronicles... Like Lord of the Rings to Star Wars).

@ChristinaM15 They push the PG-13 content for bigger box office receipts. It sucks. Like the theatrical version of Live Free or Die Hard. They can sell more tickets but the movies aren't as good.

Chronicles showed a slight sampling of how bad he could be, The whole scene where ziza the little girl showed her self. Riddick went into dark mode almost.

I actually kind of like the chronicles of Riddick, but because of it's PG-13 rating it held back on Riddick's indefinite badassness, he was still cool, but could have been cooler.

I like the idea behind Riddick, and I really liked Pitch Black, but all that mythology they were trying to create with the chronicles film was really, really bad. I would love to see this film if they hold back on trying to do the Lord of the Rings style mythology stuff. Riddick is one of the characters that would really benefit from actually being striped down!

I'd love to see an R-rated Riddick! Pitch Black is a fun movie and would be even better if the effects were so terribly dated. Chronicles of Riddick had it's moments....but suffered in a LOT of areas and desperately needed an R-Rating.
Overall I think thus far it's more of a fun series than a really good one......but I'd love to see a new one, even more so if its darker and grittier.
However, with the record breaking number of GREAT films that are due out in 2012, I'd be a little concerned that Riddick will just get lost in the crowd. I'd see it and I know a lot of you guys would see it....but the question is; would the rest of world?

The fact that Vin Diesel is coming out SAYING he DOES care, is the point @disciple419. An R-rated Riddick movie would be great. Why? Because, if/when it does well, people will hopefully stop ignoring that some movies really should be R and they'll do just fine.

Thank God!! Get this made already, loved both films, and i think its cool he wants to see what people say about it, why make another one if no one wants it. I wish more people did this, that way movies like Fist Class and sh*t like that doesn't happen!! I agree though it does need an R rating!!

The fact is this. The studio wants a PG-13 rating because they will make more money if they do so. An 'R' rating would give a more graphic look and heavier dialog. Vin Diesel and David Twohy are pushing for this 'R' rating to show more of the story. Here's the big fact in the top 100 all time grossing movies there are only 3 'R' rated films. So they could make a great film with no big results. That might be why David Twohy wants know if there is still a big fan base out there. For me personally I would rather see a PG-13 movie then an 'R' one. But i still think the movie should be made regardless. Best of luck if they can.

Is he trying to make us feel honored he would take scale to do another Riddick? I really like the series but who gives a sh*t what he makes. Fast Five just made 100million at the box office. Is he saying he will only do the movie if people agree to see it? This isn't how movies get made. Studios don't care what people want. Look at Anchorman. I hope they do it and R rating will be good. Pitch black was better than Chronicles.

hopefully he gets on this soon. hell he's made 3 fast and furious movies, babylon a.d., find me guilty, and a couple other movies since the last riddick movie. i'd say we're due for it by now. just get it over with. hopefully soon because we all know F&F6 IS GOING TO BE COMING VERY SOON. not that i dont want to see that but i want him to do riddick FIRST then he can get on with F&F....
