Vin Diesel Confirmed for Chronicles of Riddick Sequel!

Vin Diesel reprises role
Vin Diesel is confirmed to star in and produce Riddick, the third chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick franchise.

According to Variety, David Twohy is reprising his role as writer/director for the sci-fi film.

The plot details are being kept under wraps. But insiders say the third outing will hew closer in tone to the cult hit Pitch Black and will focus on the character of Riddick as opposed to the universe he inhabits, which was the case with the critically panned Chronicles of Riddick. Still, Chronicles of Riddick earned $116 million worldwide and spawned a successful vidgame series.

Dates are being worked out for Riddick so as not to overlap with Universal's fifth installment of Fast and Furious, Fast Five, which will shoot sometime this year with Diesel onboard to star and produce.

Riddick comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Vin Diesel, Joel William Gonzales, Karl Urban, Katee Sackhoff, Jordi MollĂ , Matthew Nable, Bokeem Woodbine, Dave Bautista. The film is directed by David Twohy.

Thanks. Most people don't like Vin and I think he's okay. As a sci-fi guy that I am, Riddick is the main reason why I like Vin.

Good, good and even Better, now that I read the above article! They even mentioned FAst and Furious in the same breath. Thats refreshing that I know that both will be done this year. Now thats a Good Title: Fast Five - just Love the title name. I Can't wait to see them both!

Before Fast and the Furious or xXx, there WAS Pitch Black, who starred a new comer that no one knew about at all, it wasn't Vin who was cool, it was the character Riddick, his voice, his dialogue, his lifestyle, all play a huge role to that character. He made Riddick, he IS Riddick. Whether you hate the guy or not he has to be Riddick, there's no argument about it. Riddick + movie= we're there. lol.

@HighCaliberINC.. Yes i siad i like sci-fi, but i'm saying that VD is my favourite actor in the genre or anything. I just like the Riddick movies. They are what they are, just entertainijg movies. I don't mean to insult, if i did i'd be full of mom jokes and f-words. I'm just pointing out important facts. I know alot of people don't like him, and i can see why. But like you said, his movies are guilty pleasures.

These are f*cking killer sci fi films very underrated for some reason. The have plenty of action, a unique dystopic atmosphere and wicked plot. I look forward to this third installment.

I will see this just because Vin Diesel will be in it..although I wish he would get more work...I miss the action guys of the 80's and 90s. We need more action films.

Finally!!! I`ve been waiting for this news a long time, its been talked about back and forth..but no confirmed news.. so this is great news to me.. Both Pitch and Chronicles are great movies.. especially chronicles.. too bad they wont explore more places in the `verse of riddick.. but i`m tuned in on this nonetheless.. Go Vin!!!

  11. The Narrator: The Better Man

Lol. gotcha mate. Well ad has a good point. I mean people like him. A good actor? Hell no. A fun guy? Yes. His charisma is what gets him parts along with his "machoness" or whatever and the rest is history. I look forward to this, due to the character, not the actor. Sorry if I thought you weren't chill. Lol

@Radimus: just because a movie makes money does not mean it is good...all it means is that people went to see it... and how long honestly did it take you get that number? Anyway,.. I would imagine someone who feels it necessary to point out a 'silly' comment another person wrote would try to aviod writing one of their own.
I get what you are saying,.. I'm also a little surprised that as a person who says they like sci-fi, the best you can come up with is the dude from FastandFurious... In the grand scheme of sci-fi movies, again, this dude is pretty lame... I mentioned before about having 'guilty pleasure' movies, and this guys films fall under that category... don't try and pass it off as anything more than what should be featured on Myster Science Theater 3000. Later Pal.

If his movies are so horrible, why do his movies keep topping the box offic? In 12 movies he has made up $947,465,551. Thyats pretty awesome. Wether you like hi mor not, his movies are entertaining. I like sci-fi, so to me this is good news. But i struggle to see why people run actors down so much, when all they contribute to the movies are silly comments on the internet. I'm not saying he is a great actor, but his movies are fun to watch.

Fallen: -whenever I post something about a movie or actor that I don't like or agree with, believe me, I am plenty 'chillled.' I have yet to come across anything where I was angry or super intense as I was typing a comment...
But again,.. this dude is horrible and his movies are even worse. I was making a joke about SavingPrivateRyan, but that obviously didn't land... anyway, .. it's okay to have guilty pleasure movies or actors for that matter (I have plenty), but they are guilty pleasure for a reason. That reason being they are not actually good...
*and so you know I was chilled when posting this.. picture me laughing. bc thats what happens when I hear this dude's name. Later buddy

  15. The Narrator: The Better Man

What? I mean he did just fine in Saving Private Ryan (which gets to much praise anyhow). Not the best actor (or close) but entertaining and passionate at least. He fits this mold, and we enjoy this type of film. Not so much about his acting abilities as it is the character of Riddick that keeps fans entertained. Soooo chilll.

    2 years agoby @narratorFlag

  16. HighCaliberINC

...people really go to see this guy act? huh. He almost singlehandedly ruined Saving Private Ryan ..and he only had like 6 lines in that movie before the audience was put out of their misery when he finally died. -Just don't see the appeal, or talent for that matter with this dude.. His name is so lame I can't even find it in myself to type it... I mean really,, come on people...

  17. Barkx

I have been awaiting a new Riddick film with baited breath for YEARS now! I remember watching the first film, Pitch Black, not having heard of Vin Diesel, or anything about the film... and I was blown away! I think one of the tags for the film was "Sometimes you have to fight evil with evil" and I thought this was such a cool concept!

Whilst I did like the sequel, and it was cool seeing the broader universe that Riddick lives in, I am liking what I am hearing about the new film. Keep it tight, tense, bloody & R-rated, as has been mentioned!

I can't wait to see this!

Sure hope this newer one is not only bloody and R rated but also dark like the first one. A better script and story line, last I heard Vin went back to acting school for a while. I think he learned his lesson since he did a bit better in the last FAF.
