'Veronica Mars' Gets March 2014 Release Date and First Clip

Veronica, Mac and Wallace hit their 10-year Neptune High reunion. Watch and celebrate the one year anniversary of the initial Kickstarter campaign.
Warner Bros. announced today that the Veronica Mars movie will be released on March 14, 2014, which is one year and one day after the Kickstarter campaign reached its $2 million goal and was given the green light. In addition, the studio released the first clip, featuring Veronica (Kristen Bell), Mac (Tina Majorino) and Wallace (Percy Daggs III) at their 10-year Neptune High reunion. Check out this scene, then read on for more about this highly-anticipated feature.

When asked about the release, writer director Rob Thomas revealed that the studio had their eye on this particular date.

"Warner Bros. had this date circled for quite some time and hoped it would stay open. Luckily, no other teen detective movie decided to open in the middle of March."

The director also reveals that the studio's release strategy has changed as well. The plan was to originally give the movie a limited theatrical release before rolling it out on VOD platforms, but now they are giving it a larger, nationwide release.

Rob Thomas is currently finishing the special effects and working on the soundtrack. Here's what he had to say about the scope of this $5.7 million movie.

"There are smart ways to do a movie of this size - and we chose none of them. We are a low budget movie with big set pieces and 60 speaking roles. A murder mystery in a house would have been more cost effective. But I think we have managed to pull it off."

Veronica Mars was released March 14th, 2014 and stars Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Chris Lowell, Percy Daggs III, Tina Majorino, Krysten Ritter, Martin Starr. The film is directed by Rob Thomas.
