Arnett has been doing General Motors commercials for more than a decade and when GM discovered that KITT would be a Ford Mustang, the company asked Arnett to abandon the television series. Kilmer should be more than comfortable doing voice work after portraying Moses in The Prince of Egypt.
NBC's Knight Rider is scheduled to debut on February 17th.
The Prince of Egypt was released December 18th, 1998 and stars Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Goldblum, Danny Glover, Patrick Stewart, Helen Mirren. The film is directed by Brenda Chapman, Steve Hickner, Simon Wells.

I am a bit up in arms over the switch as well. Pontiac is KITT, KITT is Pontiac. This looks to be another Bionic Woman, lots of anxious fans, and loads of optimism, only to be left with something far less than the original.
