USA Network Cancels The Starter Wife

USA has just given the axe to Molly Kagan. According to Entertainment Weekly, the USA Network has cancelled its new series, The Starter Wife.

The show started out as a six-episode mini-series, which earned 10 Emmy nominations and averaged 5 million viewers per episode. However, when USA picked it up as a full series, the numbers dipped to a 2.4 million viewer average. While those are solid numbers, they pale in comparison to the network's Burn Notice and Monk, which consistently average 6 million viewers per episode.

The network released a statement exclusively to the site, which called the series, ""critical and creative success," and also mentioned that the December 12th finale was a "satisfying conclusion" to the series.

Sucks. This was actually relatively entertaining for a TV show. Messing's been having trouble since "Will & Grace" ended, unless you count "The Women," and even then I don't know how that movie was.....
