Vin Diesel Off of xXx 3
It wasn't clear why Diesel was off the project, but it was speculated that he might have left after director Rob Cohen left the project in June to direct Medieval.
This news hasn't been confirmed by the studio, so we'll be sure to keep you posted on any and all developments on XXX: The Return of Xander Cage as soon as we have more information.
UPDATE: 10/16/09 2 PM PST) Vin Diesel's publicist reached out to MTV Movies Blog and revealed that the news of Diesel leaving XXX: The Return of Xander Cage is untrue.
The word comes from Diesel's publicist, who checked out the rumor and confirmed it to be false. As he said in his e-mail to MTV News, "I made a few calls on this and I can tell you that it is completely not true." So there you have it.
XXX: The Return of Xander Cage was released in 2011 and stars Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Rob Cohen.

It's being called a Trilogy since the cartoon fills in the gap with Pitch Black and Chronicles. As of the throne no one knows until Riddick comes back. the cartoon is all right, but I would have preferred a live action.

I agree that another Riddick is due. I never saw the animated movie. Was it any good, and did it take off from "The Chronicles"? And if so, what how did he get out of that throne situation?

Sweet. So Vin Diesel will be in it. I didn't even know this movie was slated to be made, I thought the title and the whole idea was just a rumor about a year ago, WOW. "Return of Xander Cage," hmm? Well, they will surely have to explain that bullsh*t "Xander Cage died" Sam Jackson line in "xXx: State of the Union."
