I don't know if I would say that is a great cast. Good? Sure, but great may be stretching it. Aside from Bale and Bardem, the rest of them have spotty films histories, or in the case of Kurylenko, very little experience.

@daveactor7 How do they deliver well enough that you're appreciative of the movie? What is it about them that appeals to your senses? Because for me, my gut reaction to every movie I've seen of his is to go to the medicine cabinet, and pop some Advil. There's nothing wrong with trying to present ideas that leave you in a deep sense of retrospective thought, but the cornball way he goes about it is just a turn off for me. K, I'll stop complaining now :P

@dan1 I understand what you're saying and I agree about how slow paced his films are, but in the end of them all, for me anyways, it delivers well enough for me to appreciate his work.

I see Darren Aronofsky as like the antithesis of this guy. Both present emotional and cerebral ideas in their movies, but I enjoy Aronofsky's dark twists and seedier elements he incorporates. Malick is too hokey for me, ultimately.

Alright, I'll be the guy who goes against the grain. While that is a damn nice ensemble cast right there, it doesn't make me forget that Malick's directing style is absurdly slow and irritating. Thin Red Line had a great cast, too, but it is one of the most dreadfully drawn out, wannabe avant garde movies I've seen. Same goes for New World. Ugh.

Sorry, I just don't like this dude. He has a good visual flair about him, and I can appreciate his wanting to capture the more artful side of life, but it isn't my cup of tea. I worked in a museum for a good amount of time, surrounded by this guy's type, and after a while I get bored with the 'you gotta look at the deeper level of this, man' idea.
