Universal Pictures Grabs Grim Night After Teaser Trailer Leak

Universal Pictures has picked up the thriller Grim Night, about a night that happens once a year globally, where people lock themselves at home and fend off the senseless and random attacks by Grims.

The script was written by Brandon Bestenheider and Allen Bey, who helped move things along by making a teaser trailer for the spec that was leaked by their Verve reps before the auction began. Check out the teaser trailer below!

Grim Night comes to theaters in 2014. The film is directed by Dennis Gansel.

    @dreadpirateroberts Oh no not at all what I meant was it was stupid of Universal to have dropped those titles because they WOULD have made them a lot of money (when rental sales are factored in as well) and the two directors are more than accomplished in Hollywood.

    I'm one for being entertained at the movies. I'm all for the art of it but I'm going to hate someone who just wants to entertain people.

    @messenger -- Yeah, I was about to clarify that, too. Thanks for the reminder, though. I still don't think it'll be that good, maybe all right. Who knows?

    Not sure whether theyre grim reapers or something else, but could be decent from the looks of it. Looks like they're trying to mix the disaster genre with a horror element

    @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx you're right.

    What a lot of people are not understanding is that they are buying the story, the concept, the idea not the way the look of the teaser. What we see above is just something visual to wet the appetite of a company. When they get good budget this could look a 1000 times better.

    @wade What was so stupid about Dark Towers or At the Mountains of Madness? The source material is excellent. Did you not like what they were doing with them or just do not like the stories?

    @thedude-abides -- They can feel and smell the money that is awaiting this project. Trust me. If that sh*t that is 'Paranormal Activity' can make money, nearly anything can.

    I disagree. I think it'll be pretty cool...only from what I see in the trailer and they haven't even started filming it yet so there's more to come. And plus I'm happy to see Universal going back to their horror roots after shutting down Del Tor's "At the Mountains of Madness" and Ron Howard's "Dark Towers" series which were 2 very VERY stupid moves in my opinion.

    What would propel Universal to pick up THAT? Looks like sh*t.

    Lol in the first sentence of the article the author said "about" like two times.

    From the sound of it this was a spec script pushed by this teaser, which is really smart. Where you see the grims in the teaser does look a bit cheesy but I'm sure the official trailer will look much better.
