Universal Pictures acquires Cirque Du Freak

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures has acquired the film rights to the best-selling children's series Cirque Du Freak by Irish author Darren Shan and has hired Brian Helgeland to adapt it.

Helgeland will adapt the first three books of the series for the feature and also will executive produce.

Helgeland won an Oscar for writing the screenplay to L.A. Confidential, and also was nominated for writing Mystic River. He also wrote and directed A Knight's Tale.

    by the way if you didnt know "warner bro's" are the ones making harry potter "not" cirque du freak, the cirque is being made by "universal" a totally different company.

    I hope that they make all of the series not just one movie like they did with "unfortunate events" because the reason this book is so good is its twisting storie line and that spannes across all the books until the last. and my other hope for this series is that the actors don't quit on the series because it would destroy the series, so if they don't recontract them self like the harry potter crew, then the series would make you wont to pick up the book over the movie but from other sites that three main characters John C. Reilly-Larten Crepsley, Josh Hutcherson- Steven Shepard, Chris J. Kelly-Darren Shan, and thats a great pick and after zuthura i knew Josh would be Steven.

    THey need to get this movie out now! these books aree very good and they need to be on video. but i aint going to watch them if they arent anything like the series. im glad that Helgeland is doing these movies, they should probably be good. but if they want them to con\mpete with Harry Potter get them out asap, if you havent read the books they are really good

    why is the company still waiting on the side lines to make this movie, i thought that Universal would start working Immediately so they could Compete with the Harry Potter franchise. To me Harry Potter ant got anything on Darrens Shan's vampire world.
