Universal Moves The Kingdom to Last Week in September
According to Variety, the move is in order to build momentum for the Mideast-set flick; the studio executives want more time to create buzz and gain exposure for the Peter Berg-directed pic. It also reflects Universal's feelings about the box office potential; no April film released after Easter has crossed the $90 million mark and the studio views the Columbus Day weekend as a potentially bigger score.
The Kingdom follows an elite FBI detail sent to hunt down a terrorist mastermind. It will face off against WB's Neil Jordan-directed The Brave One, the Fox adventure fantasy The Dark is Rising, the Universal comedy Mr. Bean's Holiday, and Ang Lee's espionage thriller Lust, Caution for Focus Features.
The Kingdom was released September 28th, 2007 and stars Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, Ashraf Barhom, Ali Suliman, Jeremy Piven, Richard Jenkins. The film is directed by Peter Berg.
