Universal Bringing Back Jesus Christ Superstar?

The remake machine keeps rolling along with a somewhat unlikely candidate for a redo taking shape. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal is readying a remake of the cult 70s film Jesus Christ Superstar.

The studio is apparently also interested in (500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb for the remake, who has indicated he is interested in working on the film. Official negotiations haven't started as of yet, but the trade is reporting that the director is very passionate about this project.

We'll certainly keep you posted on any new developments coming from this new remake.
