United Taps Ronald D. Moore for Sci-Fi Trilogy

Looking to develop its own homegrown franchises, United Artists is embarking on a space odyssey with sci-fi writer Ronald D. Moore.

The studio has signed Moore, the co-creator, writer and exec producer of Sci Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica, to create and write an original sci-fi trilogy for the big screen.

Moore, whose writing credits include the features Star Trek: Generations and Star Trek: First Contact as well as episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Roswell and Carnivale, worked with new UA CEO Paula Wagner nearly 10 years ago when she and partner Tom Cruise were producing Mission: Impossible III, on which he received a story credit.

"Over the last decade, Ron has emerged as the foremost sci-fi, fantasy creator, writer in the industry and working with him to bring his creative talents to the big screen is a great partnership for our studio," Wagner said.

UA president of production Don Granger brought the project into the studio.

Moore, repped by CAA, also is working on a prequel to The Thing for Universal.

Dude, calm down. I didn't say that you can't watch it or anything. I just don't for the reasons mentioned earlier.
And on a side note, that book's not fake. It's real. Type in "The Tales of The Mahgil" at BarnesandNoble.com, Amazon.com, or whatever, and you'll see it. I really wrote it. And it has nothing to do with harry potter. Seriously. :-)

Hmmmmmm... I don't know. I love Star Trek: Generations and Star Trek: First Contact. And my favorite Star Trek was TNG. But Battlestar Galactica kinda sucks.
Before you hire hitmen to kill me, here's my reasoning: It resembles a soap-opera in space, the shaking camera thing got old real fast, and why the hell would Cylons want to look like humans? Seriously! They hate humans! That's like American soldiers in WWII (Bless their hearts) saying they hate Nazis so much that they'll dress up like them! It's wrong! WRONG!!! And when on God's green earth did Starbuck get a sex change?! Seriously!

    But on a lighter note...

We DO need some new Sci-Fi franchises out there. There's been too much fantasy, remakes and action recently. So I'll be hoping for the best.
