Tyler Perry Brings the Browns to TBS

Tyler Perry, whose series House of Payne has been very successful for TBS, is now bringing a new sitcom to the cable channel based on his 2008 feature film Meet the Browns. According to Variety, David Mann will star in the title role of Leroy Brown, with Perry serving as executive producer and director.

TBS has ordered up ten episodes of this new series. If the first batch of episodes prove to be as successful as House of Payne, Tyler will then produce another ninety episodes of the show at his Atlanta-based studio. The series will revolve around the antics of a boarding house where a number of colorful African-American characters live.

The proposed hundred episodes of Meet the Browns will become available for syndication in 2010.

Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns was released March 21st, 2008 and stars Tyler Perry, David Mann, Tamela J. Mann, Angela Bassett, Lance Gross, Chloe Bailey, Mariana Tolbert, Rick Fox. The film is directed by Tyler Perry.
