Their sources say that Roberts has auditioned repeatedly for the part, and has taken meetings with Campbell concerning playing Hal Jordan. It's also worth noting that Roberts has just finished working with Campbell in Edge of Darkness.
Of course, it can't be ignored that Brian Austin Green's name keeps coming up for the role. And while Green is an older candidate than the studio is reportedly looking for, it can't be denied that he looks the part. Green has not only auditioned, but has even done screen tests while wearing the mask.

Green Lantern is scheduled to hit theaters December 17, 2010 from Warner Brothers Pictures. Martin Campbell is set to direct the film from a script written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green.
Green Lantern was released June 17th, 2011 and stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Temuera Morrison, Jenna Craig, Jon Tenney, Mike Doyle. The film is directed by Martin Campbell.

The perfect Green Lantern will be Sam Witwer from Smallville. I know you must be thinking that I am crazy but just look at him. He has the face and build for the role. He is in about his late 20s or early 30s which makes him even more perfect for the part. He has acting experience so its not like another Brandon Routh incident will reoccur. If not him then I guess Chris Pine is the best rumored choice, but he is not a better one than Sam Witwer. If Pine was given the role he would be paid a ridiculous amount of money and everyone will view him as Captain Kirk, not Green Lantern. Pine also looks nothing like the Green Lantern...
I have many more reasons why he should play the Green Lantern. I am so confident in this that I have even written a petition. Here's the link, read it and sign before you leave, I'm sure you will agree with me:

i DO like the fact they are looking at SEMI-KNOWN/Non-A-list actors for this.

there's a solid reason why B.A GREEN has never played a lead character in a 'movie'. this is because he is a TV actor, and he is limited. So they will NEVER put a TV actor, without lead movie credentials into lead franchise character such as GREEN LANTERN. In studio terms he is NOT BANKABLE...so let's stop with this nonsense right now!
As for the other two names, i still don't think they are getting a good fit. Not sure who would be better...but they need to keep trying.
GL can be epic, but the lead actor will effect so much.

via moviehole:With Bradley Cooper now rumoured to be the leading contender to don the emerald undies, one would assume previous oft-rumoured "Green Lantern" contender Sam Worthington would no longer be under consideration (if he ever was). But the "Terminator Salvation" star tells Moviehole that he has had contact from Warner Bros about leading their superhero pic, set to lens soon in Australia, and there's a possibility he may don the tights.
''I've been talking to (director) Martin Campbell about it'', Worthington says. ''It's one of those things where they're still doing the script. I said, "Give me a script. Let me have a look at it." I like Martin a lot. I met him on the Bond stuff, and I like his work, but the second step is, "Is it a

no way, the minute i heard heath was goin to be the Joker i was "thank god, this guy is so under appreciated, he'll do great" i mean just watch Lords of Dogtown, overall not a great movie, but Heath just shined and when watchin u forget that it is even him sometimes. plus Brokeback Mountain was amazing, idc wut ppl say bout the whole gay thing, that was a good movie and both Heath and Jake did great in it.
haha vantage point wasn't that bad, and Fox was barely in it, just saying? not to get at u Fallen, but if u can find one episode of lost, one scene in any episode with Fox where he isn't out of breath for god knows y, i'll take back my dislike for him. lol
oh and Boreanaz is awesome, but yeah not right for this, i could almost see him do superman or batman, but neither of those need a replacement. i mean same for Fillion, awesome actor, i wish him more success but he just isn't right for this part.

you guys shouldn't judge someone until they do the movie. all you guys i'm sure thought heath ledger as the joker was going to be a disaster. well look how that turned out so don't judge someone until they do the role.

Awesome. If David Boreanaz didn't have such a wide frame, I think he'd be a great Hal Jordan. Looking forward to seeing how the casting pans out for this movie. I'm not really a Green Lantern fan, but I'm sure I'll like the movie. If I can like a Spider-Man film, then I'm sure I can like a Green Lantern film. LMFAO!!!!!

And BD, you have a good point about Pine there. And Mathew Fox was great in Vantage point.

the thing bout Pine, is that if he did play Hal, it wouldn't be much different than Kirk, especially this new version of Kirk. he would be c*cky, and funny at times and all that. plus like i said earlier i don't like when any one actor leads two franchises, it causes for scheduling problems. (oh yeah Star Trek is freaking great, go see it)
and yeah Fox as Cap wouldn't fit, but i also don't think he would fit as GL. but i just don't like Fox much, he sucks in everything but Lost, and even in that he annoys me a bit.

Killahmovie, Mathew Fox as Cap America would be disastrous. He's a vergy cool actor, but just not the right role. I can however see Fox in a Green Lantern role as Agent VIS pointed out a few months back.
Personally of all the names they have mentioned I think Pine would be the better choice. Young, c*cky and brave captain in Star Trek, seems perfect for Hal.

i dont see green in the role even though im sure he can pull it off i think he's due for a big role but this is not it, i kind of already saw Hal being played by cooper and was sold on that as for Roberts i think he has the look but i couldnt tell u if he has what it taked to pull the role off so idk?!?!? i still say they should consider Ryan Gosling for the role if not Scott Speedman
