Two Mad Max movies will shoot back-to-back in January
"We've built the vehicles. We've designed the movie. The principal cast is locked in. The film is funded. It has been for 18 months now. It's all ready to go. We just wait."
The delay in production is due to the unpredictable rain has temporarily ruined the desert environment of the Australian outback.
"The week we were to start, it rained the heaviest it had in 10 years. I'll never forget the first day -- we were holed up in a big sort of shed watching the rain. We couldn't shoot. If you want the rain to come, just send a film crew there."
"We will restart pre-production later this year and begin early next year -- weather permitting."

Tom Hardy (who recently joined The Dark Knight Rises as Bane) is taking over the role of Mad Max himself, which was previously made famous by Mel Gibson and will be starring alongside Charlize Theron, who will apparently be missing and arm.

Any movie with Charlize Theron in it is going to be good.

Hardy is a good chioce for Mad Max. I just hope he has the cool factor that Mel had in the first two. Thunderdome wasn't a Mad Max movie; it was a very long Tina Turner music video, without the singing.
Oh, and in case you didn't know, these films are directed by George Miller.

The Narrator: The Better Man
IMO, I like Mad Mad more than I did The Road Warrior, but that's me. If, as @thedude-abides said, they stick to the original film's tone and sense of drive, than I think Hardy will do awesome in the role.

I swear no one proof reads, I found an error in that article.
I enjoyed the old versions, not sure about this yet but I'll watch it first then judge it after.

Hardy and Miller, you can't go wrong. But even if it falls short of expectations it can't be any worse than Thunderdome. Rated PG?! WTF!

Tom Hardy is perfect for this. I'll go into this with an open mind. Hopefully these films are closer to the original than they are the sequels.
