Tron Legacy to include 5 IMAX aspect ratio scenes in 1.7:1
At the Tron Legacy trailer premiere event this weekend, /Film got the chance to speak with director Joseph Kosinski who revealed that five action sequences in Tron Legacy will be shown in the 1.7:1 aspect ratio, exclusively in IMAX Theatres.

The bulk of the film will be presented in widescreen, 2.35:1 aspect ratio, but in the IMAX presentation, five special action sequences are being rendered at 1.7:1, which means that you will see a lot more on the top and the bottom of the screen. This makes a huge difference for a 3D presentation, where an IMAX screen is nearly eight stories high and are designed to extend to the edge of your peripheral vision, creating a more immersive experience. /Film also reports that Disney will be releasing a special IMAX trailer online to show moviegoers the difference between the aspect ratios.

Tron Legacy is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that's unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Starring Garrett Hedlund, Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner, Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett and Michael Sheen, Tron Legacy is expected to hit theaters December 17th, 2010.

Tron: Legacy was released December 17th, 2010 and stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, James Frain, Beau Garrett, Michael Sheen, Anis Cheurfa. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski.

Hell yeah this is worth saying... The first few minutes and a few keys sequences in The Dark Knight were in the IMAX ratio, and trust me, those sequences were the best in the whole damn movie when viewed on an IMAX screen. The shots are freaking huge! I just wish the whole movie was in this ratio...
