"Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the first billion dollar grossing movie in the history of Paramount Pictures, marking a substantial milestone in the 99 year life of this legendary studio," said Brad Grey, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Paramount Pictures. "We are grateful for the extraordinary work of Michael Bay and his film-making team, executive producer Steven Spielberg, and everyone at Paramount around the globe who played a part in helping make this latest Transformers one of the 10 highest grossing films worldwide of all time".

You can say what you want about Bay but he creates the kind of movies I always want to see on the big screen and he usually never disappoints! I enjoyed all three films myself.

Wow you can cut the hate in this room with a knife!!! Keep on hating!!! This movie was the best by far and people who keep on bashing Michael Bay seriously need to check this guys resume. Maybe he ain't winning oscars, but he and his movies make some serious bank!! The island is the only movie I know of the flopped.

That's pretty sad that, of all Paramount's films, THIS is the first to hit $1 billion. Very sad, indeed!

    Doesn't deserve it.

I'll say this again, Transformers 3 had a solid story and character development. Bay's directing blew past any scene that could connect the dots to make it more emotional or even pin point certain development. Case in point, we see Sam go from messenger to soldier when Gibson gives him the pistol. Any other director would have had a close up of the gun exchanging hands but Bay, with all his action didn't even try with this scene or many other scenes like it.

Also there are 2 different types of characters, the ones that have deep emotional or character arcs and the ones who are fun, exciting characters to watch that will stick in your mind for a while.

Transformers fits in the exciting category but I could certainly tell that the writer tried to combined the two.

@dan1 -- That destroys the whole point in "Transformers", it is(was) made to be eye-candy, mixed with mindless, prolonged action-scenes, etc. THAT'S what made this movie so big, and ultimately why it earned 1-Billion dollars.

That's just my 2 cents, though.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx What would be so bad about it if they did get another (talented) director and (talented) cast? Or rather, go all Cybertron on us, since they clearly have the money to do so.

This is why they won't give up the on the franchise, great, more reason to milk this even if it's a totally different director/cast.
