Transformers: Dark of the Moon Gives Optimus Prime Wings

Last night during Super Bowl XLV, Paramount debuted the latest TV spot for Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Now, a new set of photos from Hasbro's upcoming Mechtech toy line in support of Transformers: Dark of the Moon has arrived, revealing that Optimus Prime has metal wings. "With the upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon, one of the most iconic characters in the Transformers lore will capture the spotlight as his heroic story becomes the focus of the first-ever 3D Transformers movie. Now, an action figure befitting such an icon will be available with the new Transformers Mechtech Ultimate Optimus Prime action figure. The figure includes the Autobot leader's classic trailer that doubles as a weapons arsenal and is an integral part of the figure's converting play pattern. The Mechtech Ultimate Optimus Prime figure features three modes of conversion - vehicle, robot, and robot with "mech suit." The trailer, which serves as a weapons depot and command center, also converts into a "mech suit" that Optimus Prime shows off when it's time to rumble. Featuring lights, launching projectiles, electronic battle sounds and Optimus Prime phrases, this is the must-have item for kids and fans alike."

The toy will retail at $79.99 SRP and will be available in August. Although these toys are clearly inspired by the upcoming movie, it isn't clear if we'll actually see this winged Optimus Prime in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon was released June 29th, 2011 and stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Julie White, Kevin Dunn, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Alan Tudyk, John Malkovich. The film is directed by Michael Bay.

It's just the toy. In the commercial he had the original Jetfire wings from the 2nd movie so that's is just Hasbro being lazy so the give prime replacement wings then giving him jet's wings

the x wings are cool, but Prime is a ground soldier maybe if it converts to a pod with enough firepower to knockdown Decepticon planes ...well any Decepticon that is hehehe :)

since the second movie, when jetfire gives optimus prime his "parts" i thought that was what he was gonna do with them, because i too always wondered wth the trailer was for. in the second movie after he kicks the fallen's ass, he lke takes off half off the parts, i guess thats where they go.. in the trailer
