'Transformers 4' May Not Be Final Sequel for Michael Bay; Shia LaBeouf Cameo Not Ruled Out

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura reveals the world has not been changed too much, but Michael Bay has taken an interesting new approach.

Transformers 4 is gearing up to start production later this year, with director Michael Bay taking a smaller approach to the franchise. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently gave another update about the director's new take, revealing that they don't revisit one single location from the previous three movies.

"There's a lot of new elements. I wouldn't say we've completely changed this world, and yet it's completely different. There are new characters, new situations. I don't think we revisit a single location. Michael really has a great way of approaching this thing."

While Transformers 4 will mark the start of a whole new trilogy, it is believed that Michael Bay will not return to direct Transformers 5 and Transformers 6. The producer revealed that he hopes the director does come back, although that is not set in stone.

"I can't speak for Michael. I hope he would [direct the next two]. It would be great, but it's certainly something in our design of this. It's going to be an ongoing story, so the possibility, again, as long as the audience shows up for us, there's a lot of story still to be told."

When asked whether or not Shia LaBeouf will make a cameo appearance as Sam Witwicky, the producer revealed that may be possible, if something evolved within the story.

"I don't believe that would be true. You never know. Things are not set in stone, and if something evolved and that came naturally. That wouldn't be the intention. The intention is this is new world, with new characters, with Mark Wahlberg leading us. It's a different movie, but a lot of the things that you love about the other ones are joining the ride."

Transformers: Age of Extinction was released June 27th, 2014 and stars Nicola Peltz, Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, T.J. Miller, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Jack Reynor. The film is directed by Michael Bay.

If it starts fresh, then don't put Shia in the film. I'm kinda bored to see his character.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bay came back for the other two, especially if Paramount gave him room to do other projects by leaving 3 years between films. Besides, Bay does have a connection with this series and seems to enjoy creating more story...well explosions.

I still laugh at the fact that Bay ended up deciding to make this movie though. I knew when he claimed Dark of the Moon was the last one for him he'd be crawling back for more, haha.

Even though he sucks with story, he does know how to create destruction and madness...which is what is needed in a movie about giant space robots.
