Toy Story 3 becomes the highest-grossing animated film of all time
"In 1995, the talented team at Pixar introduced a cowboy, a space ranger and their friends who have gone on to become some of the most beloved characters in the world. The success of Toy Story is due to the tremendously creative and innovative team at Pixar, led by John Lasseter and Ed Catmull, and our incredible marketing and distribution teams around the world," said Rich Ross, Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios. "In Toy Story 3, director Lee Unkrich, producer Darla K. Anderson and the incredible team at Pixar have given audiences a film that continued the rich storytelling and character building that have become synonymous with every Pixar release."
Toy Story 3 started its record-breaking domestic run on June 18 becoming Disney•Pixar's highest grossing opening weekend taking in $109 million and marking the highest June opening in industry history. Toy Story 3 was the 11th Disney•Pixar title to debut in the #1 position on the opening weekend of wide release.
Toy Story 3 continues to charm audiences around the world, tallying more than $518 million to date, and is expected become Disney's largest international animated release this weekend. Latin American audiences have contributed $138 million making Toy Story 3 the highest ever grossing Disney film in the region. The film has ranked as the #1 film in the UK for four consecutive weeks and is the most successful release in company history with $90 million to date. Another key driver of the film is Japan, where the film has taken in $84 million while spending five consecutive weeks as the #1 movie in the territory. Toy Story 3 is climbing the box office charts, and currently ranks as the #14 film in global box office history.
While Buzz, Woody and the gang delight audiences in theatres around the world, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has also announced that Toy Story 3 will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on November 2, 2010.
Toy Story 3 was released June 18th, 2010 and stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Ned Beatty, Don Rickles, Michael Keaton, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger. The film is directed by Lee Unkrich.

@Cartman: I think you're just assuming that Nolan copied the idea from that comic.

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n i like your comment.. alot.. but what i think you sorta cut short on is that, you talked about TDK record as a very simple one to break by Inception.. i believe inception did really great.. critically and in the box office.. even if it didn't break TDK records..
saying that.. i am really happy too for TS 3.. it deserves it..

Lol. Good point. I'm still trying to figure out how it won the Oscar for Best Cinematography, and whose shelf that's sitting on - the DP's? Or the CGI guys? lol

I totally agree with you. How to train your dragon deserves the awards, but sadly it will be sitting in the back seat while pixar takes it, yet again.

Man I'm dissapointed for Dreamworks, they did a great job with How To Train Your Dragon and now are gonna have to once again play second fiddle to Pixar in the awards this year, sucks.

@Cartman Anything is possible, I'm not ruling it out, but it's highly unlikely. TS3 was anticipated and a long time in the making, so it had that going for it, on top of Pixar's sterling record. I grew up on Toy Story, so the 3rd felt like a return to my childhood days, and made it all the more sweet and great and lovable. Kung Fu Panda, while good, doesn't stir any of those type of feelings in me.

Having said that, I'm happy for TS3's record!!!

@TheREALavatah - Dont assume things, TS3 is a very good movie - but kung-fu panda is more entertaining than TS3, and who knows it can break TS# recordl, all fan boys of Inception said it will break this record that record and hell wat happened? It did not break TDK's record?? In fact Christopher Nolan agreed that he copied the story line from Uncle Scrooge comic and he developed his own ideas around it,.. the link to the comic is http://disneycomics.free.fr/Ducks/Rosa/show.php?s=date&loc=D2002-033 ie., the true inception... (My point is, never judge anything by his/its previous record),...

I'm really surprised I didn't really expected it gross this much high!not even Shrek 4 and other long-awaited sequels(more than 5 years)Indiana Jones 4 and Terminator 2 would did this!
I was really expecting that Shrek 4 would be throw off Shrek 2 and Shrek 3 but it failed!
i do expect that TS3 would be the highest-grossing pixar film but not animated of all time!
Well its ok
Let's just wait for Kung Fu Panda 2!
