Top Gun 2 gets writer Peter Craig
The original follows macho students of an elite US Flying school for advanced fighter pilots compete to be best in the class, and one romances the teacher. The sequel is said to be a look at Maverick in his later years.
The original Top Gun grossed $354 million in the worldwide box office. The new project will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Skydance Productions.
Top Gun 2 comes to theaters in 2013. The film is directed by Tony Scott.

still think this is a bad idea. it's a pointless sequel that just proves that they cant think of any new ideas for movies so they're going back to the 80's (again) and making more useless sequels that nobody wanted. and the whole UAV/drones thing was done in STEALTH, and we all saw how that turned out.

i'm not totally opposed to a sequel, but considering Val Kilmer is a shadow of himself, mcGillis is NOT the siren she once was and goose is dead i'm not sure what you'd build this on? plus, the last i heard ridley scott wanted to make it about UAV's/drones. not for nothing, that is a totally different approach than fighter pilots.
