Tony Scott did not have cancer before committing suicide
An autopsy was performed on the late filmmaker earlier today, although the results have been deferred so more tests could be performed. Donna W. Scott also said that her husband did not suffer from any other severe medical ailments.
Tony Scott passed away yesterday after jumping from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California. He was 68 years old at the time of his death. We'll keep you posted as soon as the autopsy results are revealed.
More on this as the story develops.

It will be very interesting to hear the news of the autopsy to find out who really has the egg on their face. Something made him jump off of that bridge. We wasn't researching ideas for a character, I think everyone can agree.

If people lied about that to somehow make his death seem more meaniful, that is some bullsh*t... What they hell is going on with people these... death is death... either way it is very sad that he is gone! Stop making this a damn soap opera... people are already upset enough over his passing... May you Rest In Peace!

I mean to be honest, I'm actually still in shock, that Tony is gone. He was a great man, mentor, director, film maker and an ambassador of UK Film & the BFI.
While many of you may deem his act of suicide as a selfish act, and yes it is a selfish act. But Tony lived by the simple law and this was that
"Your mind and your vision is your everything, and well if you don't have that... What do you have?"
If he did have inoperable brain cancer in the end of the day, that simple quote from the man himself, sums up the reason why he did such a selfless act, to avoid not only the suffering of himself but those around him.
Tony was a great man and a grand friend and an excellent ambassador and he shall be missed in a day that is a tragedy not only for Hollywood but also for UK Film and Shepperton Studios
R.I.P Tony

@superman81 While I agree that the news article shouldn't have been posted. But after all it is film related news and Movieweb is a media based news site particularly for film.

I dont think it is right that anyone speculate why he did what he did. the man was a father, a husband, a brother, a son, and a great director. Moviweb never should have posted that article about him having brain cancer until all the facts came out. no matter what the cause or reason, it is a very tragic event.

Yea just wait for those dumb ass mags they always put on racks in the checkout lanes at walmart. i can see it already the headline "THE REAL REASON SCOTT KILLED HIMSELF, HIS WIFE CHEATED" blah blah blah.
This man was a masterpiece at movie making and should get a life achievement award If he doesnt already have1, nows the time to give him 1 unlike other actors who have died and didnt win crap. yet their films made millions. dark knight, any1?.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx I didn't mean to say that I advocate suicide when all things look bleak. Suicide is what you and @cupid said it was; selfish and stupid. I meant that each person is entitled to go out how they so choose.

Keeping something like that from your wife, then killing yourself is just selfish and stupid.
I still think that suicide note holes the true.

@thedude1 News reports say 185. Assuming from floor to ceiling is 10 feet, Scott jumped off what amounts to an 18-19 story building.

On another note, is the Vicent Thomas bridge really that high? I've never seen it in person, but from pictures and movies it doesn't look high enough to commit suicide... granted, the man was 68, but still...

@thedude1@brian She should check out his calendar over the past month. Did he meet with doctors? Family lawyers? Was he around the family more? If so, these could be hints to her that someone was going on with her husband.
