Now, star Tom Hardy, who takes over the role of Max Rockatansky from Mel Gibson, has confirmed his participation in these reshoots. Only, he's quick to correct himself. They aren't 'reshoots' so much as they are completely new scenes. Director George Miller, the man behind all of the films in this franchise, returns for what is already being described as a behemoth of an action movie.
"[The movie]'s great. It's a big old piece; it's a behemoth of a piece. I'm off there next week to do some reshoots, well not reshoots actually, but doing more. We're building, building more Mad Maxes, even more spectacular and cool stuff."
When first reported, it was revealed that these reshoots will last a total of three weeks, and they will take place in Sydney, Australia this November. Some of the ensemble cast, mostly secondary characters, are expected back. And the studio issued a casting call looking for an Aboriginal elder, a young girl, and a husband and wife in non-speaking roles.
The story follows Max Rockatansky as he joins a group fleeing across the Wasteland, trying to avoid and eventually overtake Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) during the Road War.
