Tom Cruise Set for Sleeper

Movie Picture
Tom Cruise is in talks to star in Sleeper, Sam Raimi's adaptation of the DC Comics/Wildstorm comic at Warner Bros. Raimi will produce with his Star Road Entertainment partner Josh Donen, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Written by Ed Brubaker with art by Sean Phillips, Sleeper, which ran from 2003-05, centers on an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain and allows him to pass it on to others through skin contact. He is placed undercover in a villainous organization by an intelligence agency and falls for a member of the group, named Miss Misery.

Sleeper is the third project that Cruise has become associated with over the past two weeks --all three separate from his commitments at UA. In addition to The Tourist, the actor has expressed interest in the Working Title-Universal comedy Food Fight.

No production date has been set.

I will have to look into the comic first I've heard of it. Tom Cruise could be good or bad depends on if you like him.

Clockworkcookie, I was replying to someone why I didn't like Cruise. Not for one moment did I believe he would do a Scientology speech in a movie. So don't preach to me like I'm stupid. That's just my opinion of him. I just wish someone else was doing this film instead of him. I watch his movies despite him, not because of him.

can Cruise really cut it as a super-hero as such? he showed in minority report and mission impossible that he can do action, but can he actually convince us that he is a super-hero of sorts? i don't think so...

eer's comment was funny. lol. Sorry Vamp. And yes, that was an awesome movie.
Not to sure bout this. I'm okay with Raimi, but the only thing I liked about Cruise was 4th of July, War of the Worlds, and Lions for Lambs. That I can think of for now. THe plot does sound cool thou.

so bah??? what the hell is that? Too funny. Anyway... YES, Cruise was a great Vampire LeStat, but what err was trying to point out is that because of your facination of vampires, it was no surprise you mentioned THAT particular movie.

I'm sorry... but the way he came across was funny. It was all in fun though. Don't take offense to it.

What?! He was great in Interview with the Vampire, I wasn't only mentioning it for the fact that he was a vampire you know. I know everyone loved that movie, so bah!

Vamp... you have to admit... err's comment was hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing. I mean, he's just making fun at the fact you didn't mention some of his better work (hell, wasn't he nominated or actually won an award for Born on the 4th of July?). No... you HAD TO mention a vampire movie. Its just hilarious.

  15. Err

interview with a vampire...uh, that was the one where he was a bartender with the guy from the movie "fx", right?

    no?

was that the one where he a retarded brother who tried to boil him alive when he was a kid?

    no?

well which one is interview with a vampire?
that wasnt the one where he was a vampire, was it? because that seems too obvious.

  16. Vamp

That's exactly what I was getting at with my last statement. Besides, we all know how epic Interview with the Vampire was, and how epic his performance in Interview with the Vampire was.

I agree with clockworkcookie. You don't have to like the man to like his work. If we truly knew anything about these actors and actresses personal lives, we would probably find something out about all of them that we didn't like. I think Cruise is insane, as well, but that don't mean Minority Report sucks, either.

I guess everybody and anybody in Hollywood sees that being in a film adapted from a comic book is the "NEW" "IN" thing...It has worked for everyone else...Soooo why not Tom Cruise!??!.

Tom cruise is a good actor, actually a great actor...he just needs to choose the right roles...hopefully this will be the right one, cuz he was fantastic in tropic thunder

And not to start nething, but if ya want to go ahead: not that i'm defending scientology or nething, but is believing that were decendants or whatever of aliens really any different from believing that this world was created in 7 days by a guy in a white robe and beard who had a son that "died for our sins" by getting nailed to a cross when his dad is F*CKING GOD...just some food for thought

  20. Clockworkcookie

Looks cool. @ Saquin: it's not like he's gonna make scientologist speeches in the middle of the movie. If you like him as actor that should be enough.

I don't like Cruise because he's in a religion that believes the human races' progenitors is ET's family, amongst other things. He's a good actor, but he's insane and a twat.

Cruise seems like a good fit for this. It was a cool comic and he's a good actor.

err u do have a point there, tom does play every role the same, if u really pay attention to his acting its not bad dont get me wrong but its pretty much the same.

now on the movie, it sounds pretty cool, i never read the comics so its something new for me but the story sounds decent so ill see this

i disagree vamp, i dont think hes all that great.
hes just like any other actor who has been in the business for too long, and he acts every part the same.

    Interesting cast choice.

I'd say this is about the only comic book persona that Tom could pull off. I can't really see him as anything else if he must do something comic related.

What's with all the Tom Cruise hate? Sure the man's a psychopath, but he is a great actor. You gotta admit that, at least.
