'TMNT' Reboot Gets Working Title 'Ninja Turtles'

'Adult Alien Ninja Turtles' anyone? Michael Bay drops the ball again.
Adult Alien Ninja Turtles?
Adult Alien Ninja Turtles?
Producer Michael Bay and director Jonathan Liebesman have given the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live action reboot a working title of Ninja Turtles.

Bleeding Cool sources had this to say about the title change:

"It seems to be driven by marketing. Think of John Carter and how Disney wouldn't allow for a title with either "Princess" or "Mars".

So, it's official? These turtles are no longer mutants or teenagers? "Adult Alien Ninja Turtles" anyone?

Last weekend, Michael Bay revealed that the movie will give the turtles an alien origin, so the removal of the word "Mutant" from the title makes sense. It is still unclear whether the turtles will be teenagers in the reboot.

The TMNT reboot will start shooting later this year, possibly around September, and they are looking for filming locations in Canada.

Sound off on what you think about these "Adult Alien Ninja Turtles".

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes to theaters August 8th, 2014 and stars Megan Fox, William Fichtner, Will Arnett, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Danny Woodburn. The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

As much as I dislike the idea of them being aliens I will keep an open mind.... but having said that... If they don't say "COWABUNGA!" in this new film then they might as well sh*t all over our faces and be done with it.

To be fair to those 'sounding off' the article above DID say "Sound off on what you think about these "Adult Alien Ninja Turtles".". So to those that are freaking out about opinions? How about YOU guys chillax. :P Anyways, I am a fan of those lovable turtles. Grew up with them, watched every series of cartoon and conceivable movie [please don't make mention of the christmas special! :O] And heard of the UK versions' title. Eastman and Laird's original version was more adult anyways, and the TV series of the 80s - probably what most of us were waiting on during the release of the TMNT original movies and got Tokka and Rahzar instead of Beebop and Rocksteady, but the movies did do our mutant turtles justice. [Except for the final movie Turtles in Time which for me was like watching the Muppet Show in Japan]. I consider myself a huge fan of the Turtles, though not a crazy fan [I don't collect Ninja Turtle posters, toys, etc] But I do have the entire cartoon series from the 80s and the new 90s one, and all the movies. But I'm also a Godzilla fan :) So sure, I'm game, let them play around with the origins, after all the concept of mutant turtle coming from ooze is a little far fetched. Alien turtles could explain their 'turtle-like' appearance - but now I'm curious about how they'll fit splinter into it... if at all! Or shredder, how will Shredder play into it. Or Japan for that matter. Are they aliens that were found by Splinter and Splinter already mutated from the Ooze from CGRI [and if so why bother? And why not continue that origin then in the first place], and will Krang, noticeably absent from the movies [made for the cartoon], finally be in this one? Or Beebop or Rocksteady? Personally, regardless of who makes it, as a true fan of my favorite green ninjas, I'll give it a shot. :)

Here, for all you so-called Turtle fans try this little quiz!

uhh.....the comments alone on this story makes me laugh. I just hope that Michael Bay doesn't pull a M. Night Shalalalamalan and ruins a great franchise....like "The Last Airbender"--dear lord that movie was horrible, I mean you couldn't even call earth-benders EARTH-benders. But anyways, will he at least make Michelangelo still be in love with pizza? mmmm....pizza.

Usually I would agree with most people saying "Wait for the script, movie, official stuff bla bla bla." But this is Michael Bay. He hasn't produced a good movie in years! All faith is lost. He's better at original work.

    @junior-roberts I couldn't have said it better.

I think everyone needs to take chill pill. Calm the F**k down, stop jumping to conclusions and being big babies about a title. The title is just a working title, most movies have 'working titles' that are different from what they're titled at release. Not to mention even if it does turn out to be the official title, aren't they Ninja Turtles? Do we have to be told each and every time that they are teenage? or mutant ninja turtles? are we really that loyal to something that amounts to nothing more than brand recognition?

What I'm trying to say people is, we're adults, at least act like it and stop making the rest of us movie lovers look like whiny children.

I think we are all jumping the gun, once again. We do not know the script, as Bay has stated, and we could all be assuming this and that. You know what happens we "you assume", right?

I have a CRAZY idea. Let's wait till the movie is out, we all see it and then... if we don't like what he did with The Turtles,.... then we complain and put up negative post about it. That way, we don't look like "asses".

People forget about the films he has done in the past that are good like Bad Boys and The Rock, I loved the original cartoon series of TMNT or TMHT as Ninja was censored in the UK back then, I will hold judgment till I see the film he might give the franchise what it needs, then he might not.
But to write it off before principal photography even begins.
