"Yes, as soon as I am free of The Hobbit, I'll go back into doing Tintin. It was held up by The Hobbit, but we have every intention of doing another Tintin movie, and it's just waiting on me now, waiting for me to be done with these Hobbit movies. Once we get these Hobbit movies out of the way, then we can make another Tintin."
Our story from March revealed that Steven Spielberg, who directed The Adventures of Tintin and is producing The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun, was aiming at a Christmas 2015 release date for the sequel. With the final Hobbit movie, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, scheduled to hit theaters next December, it seems unlikely they will make this release date. That might be a good thing for the production, though, since that time frame is already inhabited by a number of high-profile projects, including Star Wars: Episode VII, Mission: Impossible 5, Kung Fu Panda 3, Inferno and Live by Night.
While it hasn't been confirmed yet which story lines will be used for this sequel, many believe that the Hergé books Prisoners of the Sun and Seven Crystal Balls will be used for The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun. Desination Moon and Explorers on the Moon have been rumored to be used for the Untitled Third Tintin Film.
