Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards
The announcement was made today by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Dr. Aida Takla-O'Reilly, dick clark productions and NBC. Here's what NBC's Alternative and Late Night Programming President Paul Telegdy had to say about the announcement.
"Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year's festivities is a major coup. Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama."
Aida Takla-O'Reilly also chimed in with her thoughts on the new hosts.
"The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina and Amy will surely have viewers wanting to tune-in to see them in action. The HFPA is thrilled to have the magnetic duo be a part of the show's 70th anniversary!"
Executive producers Allen Shapiro, Orly Adelson and Barry Adelman of dick clark productions also issued a joint statement.
"It's exciting to have two of the most respected names in comedy. Amy and Tina's well known chemistry along with their spontaneity and glamour makes them a perfect fit for the Golden Globes."
Last January, The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards delivered NBC's highest 18-49 rating (a 5.0) and biggest overall audience (16.9 million) in the time period, excluding sports, since the prior year's Golden Globes telecast. It was also the highest 18-49 and total-viewer figures for ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox in the time period, excluding sports, in more than 10 months, since the prior year's Academy Awards on ABC. The telecast improved on NBC's time-period average during the prior season by 138 percent in 18-49 rating (5.0 vs. 2.1, "live plus same day" non-sports) and 163 percent in total viewers (16.9 million vs. 6.4 million).
The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be seen in more than 192 countries worldwide and is one of the few awards ceremonies that span both television and motion picture achievements. The special will be produced by dick clark productions in association with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
Dr. Aida Takla-O'Reilly is President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Allen Shapiro, CEO of dick clark productions, Orly Adelson, president of dick clark productions and Barry Adelman, EVP of Television at dick clark productions will executive-produce the special. Bob Bardo is the executive in charge of production.

Great choice. At least these 2 have plenty of experience on live tv. The fact they are both funny doesnt hurt either.

Who cares! I'm sorry I love movies but award shows is a whole different type of entertainment, and is not movie news.

Coolness. I'm done with Gervais.. However I have yet to see a co-hosting go over well. It's always super awkward. Best of luck to these two.
I'm still excited about MacFarlane hosting the oscars :D
