Maleficent for Tim Burton's next?
Director Tim Burton is putting the finishing touches on his latest film Alice in Wonderland, set to hit theaters on March 5, and now a new story reveals what could be his next film. Ain't It Cool News is reporting that Burton could be directing a tale about the Sleeping Beauty villain Maleficent. Here's an excerpt from the article.

It seems that Tim has a hankering for Sleeping Beauty... but not really... You see, he's going to tell the story from Maleficent's point of view. In fact, it'll be called Maleficent.

The article also says it could be Burton's next film, since what was believed to be his next movie, Dark Shadows, was said to be "stumbling a bit."

Just like the ALICE IN WONDERLAND being a sequel, this is also a unique idea. Being that Maleficent was simply 1 dimentional dark figure in the cartoon, Burton is sure to aad some interesting angles to the plot. certainly the right person is on the project.

It'll definitely have a nice blend of horror/humor.

i heard he uses helena bonham carter because that is his wife or girlfriend one of the two.... i think it would be cool if he could find another leading actor, iam surprised they havent had johnny depp play Lon Chaney the actor known as "The Man of a Thousand Faces." he kinda reminds me of him because of so many different roles he has done....

I like Tim Burton movies! Nice. Still don't know why you like dark characters to shine. Maybe you believe there is no evil and this is your message to everyone and I am with you.

That'd be excellent in Tim Burton's hands.

This is a great idea. Maleficent is one of the most interesting, terrifying, and visually appealing villains in the Disney canon. I'd love to see Burton's spin on it in a similar fashion to Gregory Maguire's Wicked.

Are you guys seriously complaining that Burton makes all of his films with Depp and Bonham Carter? What's wrong with using the same actors when they're consistently putting out great performances? It's been working for Martin Scorsese and no one complains about that.

Of course he's strange that's why I like his films. The reason he reuses the same actors is because he doesn't want to use actors that he doesn't know. Take a look at every film he has, a large ensemble of actors are in those films are his good friends, some best friends, some are new to the trade, that know that Burton knows how to treat actors with respect.
All of them, have a say in what should be done and done right.
I'll look forward to this when it comes out.

First off.I agree with Narzion. No Depp or Bonham-Carter.
Second.None to sure about this.I think Burton should come up with something original that pushes the boundries of imagination a little further.

great idea - bad director choice. i'm curious if burton knows how to make a film w/out depp or bonham-carter (because u know one of the two will be in it, or the star of this film). burton is going to jack up this classic tale. bummer.
