Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank's obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.
Maniac comes to theaters June 21st, 2013 and stars Elijah Wood, Hank Azaria, Nora Arnezeder, Sal Landi, Délé Ogundiran, Dan Hunter. The film is directed by Franck Khalfoun.

Err
I do think they should have done something more with his appearance though.
Joe Spinell had the greasy hair, the mustache, the jelly belly And sort of made you feel uncomfortable just looking at him which helped build the atmosphere of the original.
Elijah looks a little too clean cut imo.

I like that elijah woods keeps playing characters who are emotionally unbalanced.
I'm not crazy about the idea of a remake of maniac but I will watch it because that movie was so incredibly campy that it left a lot a room for improvement.
who knows how this will turn out though, we will have to wait and see.
