Three actors have just signed onto Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky's version of The Nutcracker. According to Variety, John Turturro, Nathan Lane and Dakota's sister Elle Fanning will appear in the fantasy musical inspired by Tchaikovsky's ballet.

The film will be based on the fairy story that inspired the ballet. Tim Rice will be contributing eight new songs.

The movie starts shooting July 16th at Stern Film Studios in Budapest.
