'Thor: The Dark World' Photos Reveal Natalie Portman as Jane Foster on Asgard

Producer Kevin Feige and Chris Hemsworth break down the story behind this Marvel Phase Two sequel, in theaters this fall.
The mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) reunites with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) in the latest photos for Thor: The Dark World. Directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones), the story takes place after Marvel's The Avengers, which leads to some friction between Thor and Jane. Check out the photos, then read on to see what Chris Hemsworth and producer Kevin Feige had to say about the story.

Chris Hemsworth reveals that Thor is in a bit of trouble with Jane, since he didn't let her know he was on Earth during Marvel's The Avengers.

"Thor still has lot of explaining to do, and a lot of making up. Even demigods end up in the doghouse, mate. So none of us is safe."

Kevin Feige said that the tables will be turned, so to speak, with Jane Foster being brought to Asgard for her safety.

"So while Thor was a fish out of water on Earth in the first two films (Thor and Marvel's The Avengers), this time Jane is very much a fish out of water in Asgard."

Chris Hemsworth spoke about the story coming off as "hokey," in dealing with a fantasy world like Asgard.

"We were worried about coming across as hokey or whatever. If there is anyone who can pull off a fantastical world like Asgard with a great amount of integrity, it is Alan Taylor, as we've seen in Game of Thrones."

Kevin Feige also teased the love triangle between Thor, Jane Foster and Jaimie Alexander's Sif.

"It's superhero action, but it's the familiar territory of a love triangle where the parents think your girlfriend is wrong for you. That's how the best of these movies work."

In this sequel, Thor does battle with Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston). Chris Hemsworth spoke about how he wanted Thor to have an elevated battle style in this sequel.

"I really wanted to ramp up his skill set in battle. He's not just this Viking throwing the hammer. Here he's more demigod with dynamic moves we haven't seen before."

The actor also added that Thor must seek help from his villainous brother Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston.

"Needing Loki's help turns everything on its head," says Hemsworth. "And it allows us to explore the underlying complexities of their relationship. It really ends up being a kind of chess match."

Kevin Feige revealed that the villainous nature of Loki will still be firmly in place.

"Tom has built and shaped one of the best movie villains in years with many, many layers. It will be very difficult for Loki to lose the villain status. He has that firmly in hand."

Check back tomorrow when the first trailer for Thor: The Dark World debuts.

Thor: The Dark World was released November 8th, 2013 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Christopher Eccleston, Jaimie Alexander, Zachary Levi, Ray Stevenson. The film is directed by Alan Taylor.

I cant wait to see the scenes between Jane and Odin and what Odin has to say bout his son being with a mortal..Will it come off as a father looking out for the best interest of his son or as a father being outright disapproving and making her feel uncomfortable...

I think all us guys here have been in that situation with a father :D

It was obvious that they were going to have to ask Loki for help but I really like Jane in Asgard so the triangle between Thor, Tif and her can be played upon a bit more.

@Shelbysaurus Thor heads back to Earth & picks her up.At the end of Thor he said "I'll come back for u".Since Thor 2 takes place a year after The Avengers whose to say the Rainbow bridge hasn't been fixed.Maybe Odin sends him back ala The Avengers. As for why would she go there. She was doing research on it during Thor. What better way to show her than get up close and personal with Asgard.

@Trangalanga10 Maybe he can find comfort in Lady Sif. =)

Glad that she is back for this but how does she get there? (Asgard) I am not very familiar with Thor comics or the mythology in general but I'm just wondering what the logistics are with a mortal from earth coming to Asgard.
