Thor Gets Jeremy Renner Hawkeye Cameo

The Wrap confirms that Jeremy Renner will appear as his Avengers character Hawkeye at the end of Kenneth Branagh's upcoming Marvel Comics adaptation Thor.

Jeremy Renner revealed this same information back in November of 2009, but later denied that Hawkeye would be surfacing on-screen before The Avengers, saying that his quote was "blown out of proportion."

A source who has seen an early cut of Thor confirmed Hawkeye's appearance, although they wouldn't elaborate on how the archer's presence is utilized, or if he will be wearing his signature purple. The same source also confirmed that Samuel L. Jackson does not appear as Nick Fury in Thor.

The news of Hawkeye's Thor cameo hasn't been confirmed by Marvel Studios or Paramount Pictures at this time.

Thor was released May 6th, 2011 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan SkarsgÄrd, Kat Dennings, Clark Gregg, Idris Elba. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh.

I'm actually glad they're keeping Jackson out of this one. Having Phil Colson in it seems like enough foray into the S.H.I.E.L.D. territory for the story to have, and connect it to the Avengers world nicely. Thor has always kind of been the odd man out in the group, showing up when he's needed but not really being "one of the gang".

A Hawkeye cameo is fun. I'd like to see them go with a black suit with maybe some dark purple accents, something more modern looking. The classic suit isn't going to work here, but they should at least try to pay some homage.

@Dr.Carter... I have a feeling thats what theyre gonna go for, hawkeye is gonna keep his c*cky atitude and be an expert marksman with his main weapon being the bow and arrow, but is still good at handling guns and knives as back up weapons. Either suit id be fine with but im sure theyre gonna go with the Ultimate costume, ittl be easier to get by with that one in a film

I like how they link the different characters allowing them to come in to other movies as well as (hopfully in Hawkeye's case) branch out into their own franchise. My fingers are crossed that all this crossover stuff is going to pay off.

I do. This is how they have handled this series the whole way. By doing this, it allows for the formation of the team in The Avengers film to not feel forced or abrupt.
