Fox 2000 is going back to junior high, and they have just found themselves a director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thor Freudenthal has signed on to direct Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

The story is based off the illustrated stories by Jeff Kinney and revolves around a young junior high smart alleck, whose mouth gets him into trouble at both school and home.

No production schedule was released.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid was released March 19th, 2010 and stars Zachary Gordon, Robert Capron, Rachael Harris, Steve Zahn, Connor Fielding, Owen Fielding, Devon Bostick, Chloe Moretz. The film is directed by Thor Freudenthal.
