Thor begins principal photography
The epic adventure Thor spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
The screenplay for Thor was penned by Mark Protosevich as well as Ashley Miller & Zack Stentz, and Don Payne. Marvel Studios' President Kevin Feige will produce the film. Alan Fine, Stan Lee, David Maisel, and Marvel Studio's Co-President, Louis D'Esposito, will executive produce.
In addition to Thor, Marvel Studios is also scheduled to release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including Iron Man 2 on May 7, 2010, The First Avenger: Captain America on July 22, 2011, and The Avengers on May 4, 2012.
Thor was released May 6th, 2011 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Kat Dennings, Clark Gregg, Idris Elba. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh.

I hope this is good. I wasn't really a fan of Thor (or comic books in general, really) when I was growing up, but these marvel based movies just keep getting better. I can't wait to see how they pull this off. I think it's a good choice going for a relative unknown as the lead... as long as he's good of course. Off topic, does anyone else think its annoying that a film site called "movieweb" devotes only 1/4 of its front page to actual movie news, and the rest is all a bunch of useless community news?

The Narrator: The Better Man
Annoying, you sort of over exaggerated, because I am sure you have heard of Hopkins, Elba, Russo, and maybe even Kat Dennings. The lead is the only real major unknown and after Red Dawn which gets released this year comes out, he'll have a bigger name.
However, me and you thought alike on the Thor guy in Adventures of babysitting. Lol.

Besides Natalie Portman, I don't know who any of these other actors that have been cast...Chris Hemsworth? I had to Google him...another Australian actor who's nabbing big roles right & left ( ala Sam Worthington). He was Captain Kirk's father at the very beginning of the Star Trek reboot, in A Perfect Getaway (that no one saw) & will be in the Red Dawn remake...I don't know if he's good or not, but, what's with the spate of Australian actors invading movies lately? This has to make Christian Bale very uptight since Australian actors tend to steal his thunder from his angry man roles like Heath Ledger (R.I.P) did in The Dark Knight & Sam Worthington did in Terminator: Salvation, lol!
Well, it does have Natalie Portman, Marvel & no less than 4 screenwriters writing it, so...let's hope for the best. I was just thinking, where is that guy who played "Thor" the garage mechanic in "Adventures in Babysitting?" Will he be watching this in a couple of years, a fat slob in a stained wifebeater shirt, slurring profanities & non sequitors at his small vizio tube TV...but, hey, he did get to work with a hot, young Elisabeth Shue!
