Thor 2 eyes director Brian Kirk
Brian Kirk is best known for directing episodes of HBO's hit series Game of Thrones. It was with this series that he proved he could manage a large ensemble in a fantasy epic while grounding the grandiose nature of the genre in reality. It was his work on the show that grabbed the attention of those in charge at Marvel Studios.
Thor 2 is expected to double its cast of larger than life Aasgardians and mythical Norse creatures, making it one of the largest scale Marvel adventures to date, second only to The Avengers.
Thor: The Dark World comes to theaters November 8th, 2013 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Ray Stevenson, Kat Dennings, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston. The film is directed by Alan Taylor.

@bawnian-dexeus Um, not necessarily. My thought is that the ending credits must be the connection to The Avengers franchise, assuming sequels abound. Whatever way the individual movies go, there must be linkage somewhere along the line.

@bawnian-dexeus It could be a two pronged battle. One in New York with Beta Ray and Sif leading as generals against Surtur's demon army, and Thor and other Asgardians kicking ass in Asgard.

@dan1 I like almost everything here, save one thing. Assume for a second that The avengers is the mega-hit we want it to be. Shouldn't those after ending credits scenes go towards building a sequel to The Avengers? Other than that, all is great. Will they show how Loki manipulated the death of Baldur? Using Amora would be great--my pick is Laura Vandervoort.

@ejk1 Well, if they're gonna double the Asgardian cast, I want at least Baldur the Brave, Karnilla the Norn Queen, Loralei, Amora, and Skurge present. Then an exploration of another realm such as Muspelheim or Hela's domain. That would be more than plenty for the second movie. You could end it with the heralding of Surtur's coming in the after credits scene. Then in part 3 bring in Beta Ray Bill, and show off the initial rivalry between Thor and him, and settle some unresolved plot lines. At that point maybe have the Valkyries alert Odin of Surtur's arrival, and LOTR level battle commences. Or do a slower burn and show more worlds before that, as bringing in Surtur brings a kind of finality. Maybe like the third movie about Malekith the Accursed and the casket of Ancient Winter, then Surtur in the 4th.

@ejk1@dan1 I'm all for all 9 realms to be explored, and would be cool if an amount of films like that can be accomplished. Possibly throw in Beta Ray Bill in the mix for a story around Thor and Beta's rivalry for the hammer, before getting his own. He's my favorite thunderer

@moviegeek Um, I can agree and disagree with that. I also prefer to see more of what made the first one great there again and not substituted for grandiose battles, but at the same token, this is Thor we're discussing. Dude is the God of Thunder, a warrior, and battles are what he's bred for. If they do indeed use Enchantress, I'm expecting her to be similar to Loki, only manipulating characters on a bigger scale. If they go with Amora, that is. If they don't, they have plenty else they can do with the 9 realms, but I am all for go big or go home when it comes to this character.

Good director from what I hear, but WHY are they making this larger in scale??? I'm tired of sequels that think expanding everything makes it better. Lose all of the thousands of extras and focus on central characters, not huge army battles.
