Thor 2 eyes director Brian Kirk
Brian Kirk is best known for directing episodes of HBO's hit series Game of Thrones. It was with this series that he proved he could manage a large ensemble in a fantasy epic while grounding the grandiose nature of the genre in reality. It was his work on the show that grabbed the attention of those in charge at Marvel Studios.
Thor 2 is expected to double its cast of larger than life Aasgardians and mythical Norse creatures, making it one of the largest scale Marvel adventures to date, second only to The Avengers.
Thor 2 comes to theaters November 8th, 2013 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Idris Elba. The film is directed by Alan Taylor.

his seems like a great idea. This guy has worked with some very popular, praised work material. Should be something above it's own merit.

That's a shame, I liked Kenneth Branagh. But it sounds like this guy knows what he's doing, so I'm all for it!

Let's Go Bub!
@brucewayne - I was just about to say Jumaji and Honey I Shrunk the Kids are classics, but you beat me to it. And just for the record while we are talking about HISTK, for everybody who doesn't think Ant-Man wouldn't be cool just go back and watch Honey I Shrunk the Kids or Honey I Blow Up The Kid and tell me that wouldn't be cool to see a superhero do that.
I'm right with you that Marvel has proven that they know what they are doing, i was just saying i don't think Brian Kirk is going to be the one who gets signed to direct Thor 2 overall. Not that he would be a bad choice, and Iron Man 2 is a can of worms we will not open lol.

@dan1 I'm just saying, only two films have managed to convince me that it works, and one of them was a theme park ride. Upon watching Thor in 3D, the hammer never hit me in the face.....more like a foul ball

@bawnian-dexeus 3D isn't necessary for most any movies. If I wasn't forced into the 3D when I saw movies in IMAX, I would definitely opt out given the choice.

I will make this perfectly clear, 3D isn't necessary for these new age hero films. i just hope for the sequel they can also blend in the background to Hemsworth better than last time.

@dan1 Yeah, but we talk a lot. On FB, MSN, and MW. It's kind of like Pardon The Interruption on ESPN. We congregate and talk about film, comics, and other such entertainment.

@ejk1 I'll let you read the books before we have that discussion. You'll become overly inquisitive, and spoil things for yourself, because I might say something I shouldn't have.

@dan1 That's okay. I imagine she would want to go into hiding for a while, to raise those dragons. I don't know if I'm right about this, but I think once the news of three dragons being born hits Westeros, the kingdom is gonna be looking for blood.

@ejk1 Surprisingly, the Khaleesi is sparse in book two so far. I mean, she has a few chapters, and they're pretty epic, but not enough. I hope HBO spruces that up some.

F*cking jumpsuits that ultimately failed. What the f*ck was that sh*t. Is it wrong that I was rooting for the movie to just end with everyone dead?

@dan1 She was the only redeeming quality of that POS (until she turned good, anyways), which is upsetting because I love Rachel Nichols as well, but her Scarlet was boring as hell.
