Patty Jenkins may direct Thor 2 for Marvel Studios
Patty Jenkins made her feature directorial debut with the critically-acclaimed Monster, where Charlize Theron won a Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos. Patty Jenkins hasn't directed a movie since then, although she has directed episodes of Arrested Development, Entourage, and the pilot episode of The Killing.
We reported last month that Game of Thrones director Brian Kirk was in early talks to helm Thor 2, but it seems a deal was never reached. Don Payne (Thor, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer) is writing the Thor 2 screenplay.
It isn't known when Thor 2 will start production, although Marvel Studios has set a July 26, 2013 release date for the superhero sequel.
Thor 2 comes to theaters November 8th, 2013 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Idris Elba. The film is directed by Alan Taylor.

Patty Jenkins wouldn't be the first female director to direct a Marvel film, in 2008, Lexi Alexander directed Punisher: War Zone.

I know they're just going through the motions right now with these directors, but I was rooting for Kirk, if only because of my love for GoT.

Someone with better credentials please? granted, I head great things from Monster, but that and a few directed TV episodes aren't much of a track record.

Thor was great but it seems like it's one of those movies that are better left alone. Don't forge that, like Iron Man, Thor no longer has the element of surprise on its side..

-"first female-directed marvel film." Except Lexi Alexander, a female, directed Punisher: War Zone. Maybe not the biggest, best, or most popular film, but a Marvel film none the less.

Not sure how to feel about this. Won't like or dislike.

They're just name dropping right now. The studio is putting feelers out there to see who's interested. Nothing is set in stone yet.

I was hoping for the Game of thrones guy but Monster was pretty good so this girl could be great for the gig.

"Monster" was a real creep show flick, though very accurate. She should make something else like that. A comic book sequel seems out of place. And where the hell has she been this past decade? "Monster" was too good for the director to not have scored some great ones since then.
