Thomas McCarthy Joins Cast of 2012

Thomas McCarthy (writer and director, The Visitor) takes a role in Roland Emmerich's 2012.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, McCarthy joins an ensemble cast led by John Cusack that includes Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover and Oliver Platt.

McCarthy will play the boyfriend of Peet, who is the ex-wife of Cusack's character.

"As an actor, I've never worked on anything with this scale before, and I always go see these movies," he said. "And then there's the director part of me. I get really excited about working with directors like this, who do things that are so wildly different from me. And he really is. He works on a totally different canvas.

2012 is set to shoot in August in Vancouver.

2012 was released November 13th, 2009 and stars John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt, Thomas McCarthy, Woody Harrelson, Danny Glover. The film is directed by Roland Emmerich.

    yeah ive done some dimestore research and my theory is that they were trying to mark the next magnetic pole flip. theres lots of people out there (doomsayers) who assume the flip will include "total surface destruction" i.e. hurricanes and tsunamis, et al, where as the less pessimistic scienctist types (ie nova science) predict you wouldnt even know the poles flipped unless you paid careful attention to the direction your toilet water spins, or looked at a compass.

    sorry im f*cking bored today, didnt mean to get off on a dull non-movie tangent.

    im not a fan of roland emmerich but im digging the cast. i always liked cusack and platt, and glover.
    i have no idea who this mccarthy guy is though.

    but whatever, if its a movie about december 21 2012 and the end of the world, or the flipping of the earths magnetic poles, or the return of quetzlcoatl and the birth of a new consciousness then im in.

    If as they say its just a natural disaster then they better not make it like the Day after Tomorow, cause its so boring to see the same thing over and over.
    I wonder if we will se any aliens perhaps? :D
