During a recent discussion with Jeffrey Lyons on Reel Talk Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3, Sideways) let it be known that he is most likely going to be in John Carter of Mars. Here is what he had to say:

"I probably am going to do a huge science fiction drama at Disney called John Carter of Mars in the spring and that's a very dramatic role." Church stated.

Created by Edgar Rice Burroughs - John Carter first appeared in 1911's "A Princess of Mars," the first Burroughs novel set on the fictionalized version of Mars.

Carter encounters both formidable alien creatures resembling the beasts of ancient myth and various humanoids and finds his true calling in life as a warrior-savior of the planet's inhabitants. He wins the hand of Martian princess Dejah Thoris of Helium.

John Carter of Mars is slated to come to theaters in 2012 from Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios.

John Carter comes to theaters March 9th, 2012 and stars Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Bryan Cranston, Mark Strong, Willem Dafoe, Ciarán Hinds, Dominic West, Thomas Haden Church. The film is directed by Andrew Stanton.
