Thomas Carter is set to direct the indie drama about Jackie Robinson.

Written by Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen J. Rivele (Ali), the story will track Robinson's upbringing in Southern California and center on his breaking baseball's color barrier. Production Weekly adds it will also focus on the relationship between Robinson and Branch Rickey, the Brooklyn Dodgers general manager (played by Robert Redford).

Pre-production is scheduled to begin soon with filming to start around March.
