They didn't want dobby to just come back and meet his fate (however that would've been much cooler) they wanted to reestablish him as an important character before that happened

@K-man I'm sorry but if you see the new tv spots, he comes back not only once, but he's in many scenes including a scene with harry, ron and hermione talking to dobby while on the run.

@Daveactor7 - I hope that's not true about Dobby. He's the one and only thing, of ALL the Harry Potter films, that drives me friggin nuts! He's the Jar Jar Binks of the Potter world, well, him and Moaning Myrtle. I'd be ok with him if they toned down his voice and childish behavior a bit, otherwise.......he's got to go.
I definitely think that Dobby was the one thing they drastically misinterpreted....at least in terms of behavior. If they had made him more likable and less....lame, then most people would cheer to see him again, especially if he's their to help save the day. But everyone I know, especially myself, will be shaking their heads in annoyance as soon as he shows up. Too bad for that.

Finally Hermione's book smarts are paying off and she has become a better witch than the boys are wizards. I have wanted to see her transitioning into this role in Half-Blood Prince (since it was in the book), but oh well as long as they show her being very powerful in Deathly Hallows it will no doubt make up for it. Awesome!
