Thinkfilm to Distribute Rupert Wyatt's The Escapist

ThinkFilm landed the domestic rights to existential thriller and Sundance preem The Escapist for around $1 million.

According to Variety, the action feature stars Brian Cox, Joseph Fiennes, Dominic Cooper and Damian Lewis, and also marks the feature debut of British director Rupert Wyatt.

The nonlinear story cuts between past and present following an inmate as he plots his escape and races the clock to see his drug-addled daughter. "It's arresting, it's like nothing we've ever seen on film before," said ThinkFilm's Mark Urman, who plans to open the film in October in Gotham and Los Angeles and then platform with a quick, broad, week-by-week expansion.

The Escapist was released April 3rd, 2009 and stars Brian Cox, Damian Lewis, Joseph Fiennes, Seu Jorge, Liam Cunningham, Dominic Cooper, Steven Mackintosh, Ned Dennehy. The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt.
