The Wrestler Brings the Squared-Circle Drama to DVD and Blu-ray on April 21st

You can bring home one of the best performances of the year home on DVD and Blu-ray this April. The Wrestler will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on April 21. The standard DVD will be priced at $29.98 SRP while the Blu-ray will go for $39.98 SRP. We don't have the cover art for these releases as of yet, but we'll update this story as soon as we have the images. The film stars Mickey Rourke in his Golden Globe-winning and Oscar-nominated performance, along with Oscar nominee Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood.

Mickey Rourke gives the performance of a lifetime as pro wrestler Randy "The Ram" Robinson, a former superstar now paying the price for twenty years of grueling punishment in and out of the ring. But he's about to risk everything to prove he has one more match left in him: a re-staging of his famous Madison Square Garden bout against "The Ayatollah." Darren Aronofsky directs a powerful cast in this action-packed saga of guts, glory and gritty determination that is "as irresistible as a headlock" (New York Post).

Special Features:
- Within the Ring featurette
- The Wrestler Music Video - Written and Performed by Bruce Springsteen
- Wrestler Round Table

The Wrestler was released December 17th, 2008 and stars Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Mark Margolis, Todd Barry, Wass Stevens, Judah Friedlander, Ernest Miller. The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky.

Yea, I guess I'll rent it. Looked ok by the trailer, and everyone seems to praise it so much.

Thanks Gallagher. I usually buy new DVDs at Target the first week so I can get them for $16.00 and this one will be no exception.

RightHandOfDoom and Shelley, that's just the suggested retail price and $29.98 is pretty standard for Fox discs. You'll be able to find it for less than $20 on the week of release anywhere, usually about $15 or $16 at Target or Best Buy, etc. I honestly don't know how this pricing works, but if you go to some places like Sam Goody or Suncoast or what have you, they'll have the disc for $19.99 the first few weeks and then it will bump back up to the SRP, or $29.99 after a month or so. If you get your DVD's at a discount chain like Target or Best Buy or Circuit City (while they're still in business...) the SRP really doesn't mean much.
