The Wolverine will be a stand-alone movie says Hugh Jackman
"We've deliberately not called it Wolverine 2 because we want it to be placed and feel like a standalone picture. With an all-new cast and setting it in Japan, it's going to give us a whole new visual aesthetic. The approach to character means we won't be overloaded with mutants and teams and the like, so it'll be more character-based. I think in many ways it will feel like a completely different X-Men film."
He also addressed the delays in the production, when original director Darren Aronofsky left the project, to be replaced later by James Mangold.
"I'm just really glad it's happening. For a while it's felt like a rocky ride. I think it's the best idea we've had, the strongest script we've had and that now we really have an opportunity to make something really great. I've been waiting for it so long now. I think half the material in my one-man show is about the wait for The Wolverine!"
The Wolverine comes to theaters July 26th, 2013 and stars Hugh Jackman, Famke Janssen, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima. The film is directed by James Mangold.

@skywise Yeah, I would much rather Aronofsky do Noah than this. Noah will be brilliant.

@thedude-abides Yes I am really happy about who they got to direct this. I was very happy to hear that Aronofsky was attached originaly but to be honest I think Mangold is a little more suited for this.
Thats not to say Aronofsky wouldnt have made a brilliant movie but I am kind of glad he went with Noah. It seems more his style.

I hope this turns out good. As far as Wolvie goes this source material was always among my favorite. That and the Reavers storyline. I just hope it transfers well to the Big Screen.
